caely brandon-lumens print

This is an alternative development study with a lumens print using a page from the babyons. I exposed the print for 6 days on a sunny counter, then scanned the image as soon as I freed it from the contact printing frame. I continued to scan to observe the exposure process--it took around 30 seconds to rescan the image each time, with a 5 second waiting period between the scanner exposure.

This is an experiment/work in progress. The changes are very subtle and difficult to see on a computer screen, but will be noticeable when there are more than 8 copies printed to hang on a wall.

I chose to scan the image rather than process it in the darkroom because I am SO enchanted by the colors exposed on the black and white paper. I am also interested in how re-scanning an image can either enhance or diminish it. For example, rescanning scans (a scan of a scan of a scan--ha!) of a photo disintegrates the image into tiny dots until only white paper exists. Does this image degrade when scanned over and over as well? Or is it improved by the light of the scanner?
